Jacob C. Evans is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Juris Doctor from Capital University School of Law.
Beginning in 2000 with the Craig Group, Evans represented clients before the Ohio General Assembly, Ohio Division of Liquor Control, and Ohio Liquor Control Commission. He acted in a government affairs capacity by successfully collaborating with many stakeholders to assist in the formulation of laws and rules that impact bars, restaurants, carry-outs, spirits manufacturers, and spirits brokers. He served as General Counsel to the Ohio Licensed Beverage Association for eight years and as General Counsel to the Ohio Spirits Association from its inception in 2011 until his departure in 2015.
During his tenure with the Craig Group from 2000 to 2015, Evans represented a diverse and dynamic group of clients that included but were not limited to convention and visitors bureaus; drug rehabilitation facilities; reinsurance; a provider of hospice, home care, behavioral health, and developmental disabilities services; gaining an appreciation and a depth of knowledge in a number of industries.
In 2015, Evans joined both the Law Offices of Lumpe & Raber and the Wholesale Beer & Wine Association of Ohio, for which he serves as Counsel for Legislative Affairs. He became a named partner in 2016 of the Law Offices of Lumpe, Raber & Evans. Evans is driven and impassioned in his representation of small family-owned businesses before the legislature and on legal matters
Evans has conducted hundreds of liquor option campaigns on behalf of retailers across Ohio. He has had the pleasure of collaborating with Fortune 500 companies as well as small, locally owned operations to place issues on the ballot while successfully garnering the support of their respective communities and interested parties. His expertise in liquor option campaigns has resulted in presentations to the Ohio Association of Election Officials at their Annual Conference on multiple occasions and for the Ohio Division of Liquor Control in their Continuing Legal Education seminars.
During his career, he has served as the Chairman of Ohio’s Responsible Alcohol Policy Coalition, a board member and Secretary, Treasurer, and currently, Vice President for the National Wholesale Beer Association Executives, and as an ad-hoc board member for several small businesses providing counsel on business operations, revenue development, and day-to-day employment issues.
